The primary purpose of this release is to introduce two new features and improve the User Interface and User Experience.

Feature updates:

• This release introduces our new backward compatibility support. From this release forward, all apps that rely on Check Sync/UOP to exchange orders locally can use different versions (see Compatibility section above).

• This release also introduces support for the new Check Sync version. This version no longer requires manual configuration across ActivateX, InteractX, Check Sync, or KDS Android.

  • This improvement removes the need for an additional device and the need to rely on static IPs to connect Activate X, Check Sync, and KDS Android applications - each of these products will now connect itself to all other devices on the network.

    • When using Check Sync as a service, clients can set the KDS Admin PIN in Connect to prevent users from accessing the Server screen in Check Sync. This functionality is only available when running Check Sync on the same device as KDSX and is set on the Account module of Connect. We added this feature to prevent users from Stopping the server and from running Reset Order Data - all controlled in this screen).

      • Set Permission Sets > KDS > Require Pin for Admin Pages to YES.

      • Enter the desired PIN on Accounts > Type = Terminal Account > Admin PIN.

    • When this feature is enabled, Check Sync will display this popup when the user taps the Server button on the main screen:

      • If the user enters the correct password, then Check Sync displays the Server screen.

      

  • This also protects the site from users inadvertently running Reset Order Data (see KDSX 5.12 for more details).

  • The main Check Sync screen now also has a Back button. Users can use that button to navigate from Check Sync back to the main application (KDSX, AX, IX) when using Check Sync as a service.

• The KDSX User Interface was reviewed - the app no longer shows prices, taxes, or totals on any screen. These items were removed to allow for a cleaner user interface (and to let us expand our display options without including elements that are not critical for kitchen operation.

• This release introduces two new error messages displayed at Login if incorrectly configured.

  • Connect Enterprise allows KDSX Administrators to enable both the Same Day Order Ahead and Check Queue features simultaneously (even though they should not be used in conjunction at a single location). If these settings are enabled at the same time, KDSX will show the following error message at Login:

    

  • KDSX will now show an error message at Login if the KDS Mode. is set to Off. This is an operational issue because AX & IX never notify the cashiers/guests, which can lead to servers operating without KDS unknowingly (while expecting orders to flow).

    

Bug fixes:

• Operating with Auto-Print, KDSX now prints the Same Day Order Ahead chits when the order transitions from Upcoming to the Pending tab.

• Print Logging now also covers Order Ahead events.

• This release fixes a Check Sync crash experienced in production (OTG).

Known limitations:

• Order chits from OAPI orders print item quantity followed by ".000" - for example, 1.000 for a quantity of 1.

• Order Types are not supported when running with Checks in Connect Mode.

  • If the location is set up to use order types and the accounts/roles use Checks, the orders will not show on KDS.

• When changing the order status on a Vendor KDS, the corresponding Subvendor KDS status is changed automatically.

• When operating with the Filter Split/Combine Updates flag enabled, any items added to a split check in ActivateX will appear in separate cells/chits on KDSX.

• When using KDS Android and Activate X on the same device, toggling from KDSX to AX automatically logs into the POS.
