AUTHOR: The Shift4 Updates team

Download our self-test guide here to see if you will be affected by the security certificate change.

Shift4 is continuing a critical security update to keep your systems protected. With the recent upgrade by our SSL provider, VikingCloud, all TLS/SSL certificates will now be issued from updated roots: Trustwave Global Certification Authority, Trustwave Global P256 Certification Authority, and Trustwave Global P384 Certification Authority.

Final cutover to the new certificates will be complete on October 22, 2025

Most clients will not be impacted. However, if your environment does not recognize the updated certificates, your Givex services—including gift cards, loyalty programs, and GivexPOS—may be disrupted after October 22, 2025.

What You Need to Do

  • Download our Self-Test Guide now and confirm whether your systems will be affected.

  • Have your IT team and application developers complete the required updates before October 22, 2025.

Immediate Steps for Your IT Team:

  1. Verify system versions – Ensure you are using:

    • Microsoft Windows 10 version 1903 or later

    • Microsoft Trusted Root Program April 30, 2019 or later

    • Apple iOS 16.5, iPadOS 16.5, macOS 13.5, tvOS 16.5, watchOS 9.5

    • Google Chrome 105, Chrome Root Store 7, Chrome Root Program Policy 1.1

    • Mozilla Firefox 82, NSS 3.57
(If not, update immediately. Visit the SecureTrust site and download the new roots from the “Future Roots Certificates” tab.)

  2. Check for certificate pinning – Remove any instances of root or intermediate certificate pinning/hard coding in in-house applications.

If you have questions, contact your Shift4/Givex Client Support Team right away.

Sincerely,

The Shift4 Team
