Planned Canary Release Date: 12 November 2025
Planned Global Release Date: 18 November 2025
Planned Release Version: v2.55.29-qs
Release Type: Release Candidate
Content: Split Items onto a New Tab, Enhanced Web Software Update Behavior, Various Bug Fixes
These are Pre-Release notes with the anticipated contents of a Canary release targeted for November 12, 2025 and a Global release targeted for November 18, 2025. There is potential for changes in the scope and timing of the release. We will send final release notes upon completion of the release.
Beginning November 12, 2025, SkyTab Venue will begin doing more gradual rollouts of POS software updates. After the software update has been fully tested internally, it will first go to a subset of Canary customers, before being deployed widely to all customers.
We are taking this approach to minimize risk and allow for additional testing in Production before deploying globally. Following the Canary release, our team will be closely monitoring performance for the customers who have received the update, and will react quickly if any issues are detected. If the release performs well, it will be deployed globally the following week.
The preliminary group of Canary customers has been coordinated with their respective Account Managers. Please reach out to your EAM if you are interested in participating.
Note: Platform updates will be deployed to all customers on the Canary release date. These updates are denoted with a * in the release notes.
Enhancements:
Splitting items from one tab onto a new tab is now supported – A knowledge base article for use of this feature to be linked in final release notes
There will now be a “Split Tab” option in order details for open tabs
Splitting is available for front bar and back bar tabs
The attendant may select some or all items to split onto the new tab
The option to split all items should be used if you need to switch the payment on an open tab without closing it
When splitting, the attendant may select to start the new tab with
The saved auth from the original tab (if applicable); A new auth will be created for the new tab
A new card
No payment (if applicable)
If a tab was started with an online auth and is partially paid with a fixed custom tender, the auth can now be used to pay the balance when closing the tab
Made the following enhancements to the automatic web software update behavior:
While on the PIN screen, the version will automatically update after 5 mins of the device being online and a new version becoming available
If a software update becomes available while the device is online and the user logs in before the software version is automatically updated, they will receive a dialog with the updated software version, giving them the option to accept or decline the update
If a software update becomes available while the device is online and the user is logged in and on the menu screen with an empty cart, they will receive a dialog with the updated software version, giving them the option to accept or decline the update
